Iman Bacodari

IAPAC Board Member

“A leader is someone who knows the way, goes the way, and shows the way.” –John Maxwell

If there were any quote that best defines Iman (Bacodari) Barkhordari, it would be the above statement. Iman is the leader of the award-winning Bacodari Team at Douglas Elliman in New York City. Since 2012, and in a highly competitive, every-changing market, Iman and his team have scored success after success, culminating in winning Douglas Elliman’s highly coveted Pinnacle Club Award, given solely to brokers who have generated more than a million dollars in commissions within a given year. AND the Iman Bacodari Team is among the top two percent of the company’s 7000 brokers, an amazing feat.

Iman leadership style reflects who he is as a professional: dedicated, nimble, knowledgeable and driven. He is also kind, intuitive, compassionate, and truly cares about his team members and clients. He invests in his team, working with a business consultant, a cost that comes from his pocket, not theirs, even though all benefit from the counselor’s advice. Iman’s business acumen allows the team to ride the waves of real estate with nary a washout, because he takes the time to analyze the market, plotting short- and long-term strategies that will enable them to take advantage of a fluid market. All of this benefits their clients, as they get the information that they need, that they demand, in real-time.

Iman’s standing as real estate authority is well-established, with numerous media appearances, including being featured in The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, The Real Deal and on NY1 News. He was also a guest speaker at New York University’s Real Estate program. Iman is generous with his knowledge, blogging about real estate on his information-packed Facebook Fan Page – The Bacodari Team – where he provides straight talk about every aspect of buying, selling and investing in Manhattan properties. An educated consumer, he feels, can make the best decisions when they have ready access to information, and that is the goal of the blog, and the impetus in his press interviews. Aside from his extensive history in real estate, Iman bolsters his knowledge through education. He holds real estate certifications from the New York Real Estate Institute and Ivy Real Estate Education. Iman, along with his team, are members of the Real Estate Board of New York.

Iman doesn’t just lead – he is an active broker. His specialty is assisting international and domestic clients in the purchase and sale of primary and secondary homes, as well as investment properties. He guides investors to make the smartest purchasing decisions – acting as their property manager if the case calls for it – thereby maximizing the returns regardless of the nature of the market.

Iman is invested in his community. He is actively involved in the Brookings Institution (New York City Brooking Council), the Central Park Conservancy, the Lincoln Center Business Improvement District and the Madison Square Park Business Improvement District. Iman, who is fluent in Farsi, launched a successful networking group of young Persian-American professionals and is active in the Persian-American community in the tri-state area. A California transplant, Iman attended Beverly Hills High School, Le Lycee Francias and is a graduate of the Fashion Institute of Technology. He and wife, and their son currently live on the Upper West Side.
