U.S. House of Representatives (R-5th/NC)
Virginia Foxx is currently serving her fifth term as the Representative of North Carolina’s 5th Congressional District in the United States House of Representatives. Foxx is the chair of the House Education and the Workforce Subcommittee on Higher Education. She also serves as the Vice Chair of the powerful House Rules Committee.
Foxx is a visible leader in the House Republican Conference. She was elected Secretary of the House Republican Conference by her colleagues on November 27, 2012.
In 2008 Foxx successfully passed a bill to streamline the federal government and save taxpayer money. This accomplishment makes her one of the few members of Congress who took office in 2004 who got legislation signed into law in both the 109th and 110th Congresses.
Foxx served as an honorary co-host of the opening reception to celebrate A Thousand Years of the Persian Book exhibition at Library of Congress in March of 2013.
