"I want to thank IAPAC, the connected political committee of the Public Affairs Alliance of Iranian Americans (PAAIA), for its generous support to my re-election campaign. I commend IAPAC and PAAIA for its work to ensure Iranian Americans have a voice in our democratic process and appreciate your efforts to educate lawmakers about the views of the community. Iranian Americans have made significant contributions to the social and economic fabric of America. I am proud to represent a vibrant Iranian American community in the San Francisco Bay Area. I look forward to working with IAPAC and PAAIA in the next Congress."

Jacqueline "Jackie" Speier is the U.S. Representative for California's 12th congressional district, serving since 2008. Due to redistricting, Speier is running for reelection in 2012 to represent California's 14th District.

Speier serves on the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform and the House Armed Services Committee.  She is also a member of her party’s leadership team as Senior Whip, working within the Democratic caucus to push issues that will create jobs and strengthen the middle class.

As a member of Congress, Speier is known for her focus on consumer issues.  She has introduced the “Do Not Track Me Online Act” to enable consumers to opt out of any collection of personal information by websites, email providers and other online entities. She is fighting to require investment advisors to protect their customers’ interests and prohibit credit rating agencies from advising the firms they rate.  A proponent of immigration reform, Speier is a co-sponsor of the DREAM Act.

A friend of the Iranian American community in the San Francisco Bay Area, Speier was one of the first public officials to endorse Sharmin Bock for San Francisco District Attorney.  She is also the first member of Congress to appoint an Iranian American as her chief of staff.
