U.S. House of Representatives
"Thank you to the members of IAPAC for your support and encouragement. Your support is especially meaningful to me as the representative of the many Iranian Americans in California's 33rd Congressional District. I look forward to continuing to work with IAPAC and its members in the next Congress."
Congressman Henry A. Waxman represents California's 30th Congressional District. Due to redistricting, he will be running for reelection in California’s 33rd Congressional District, which includes Beverly Hills and Westwood. Waxman serves as the Ranking Member for the House Energy and Commerce Committee.
Waxman is a cosponsor of RES. 267, which recognizes the cultural and historical significance of Nowruz, the Iranian New Year, expresses appreciation to Iranian Americans for their contributions to society, and wishes Iranian Americans and the people of Iran a prosperous new year.
A proponent of civil liberties, Congressman Waxman is an original cosponsor of H.RES.476 (110th Congress), which condemns discrimination and bigotry against Iranian Americans. On immigration, Waxman has voted in favor of more visas for skilled workers and against measurers that turn immigration infractions into criminal felonies. He is also a cosponsor of the Dream Act, which would provide undocumented high school students the opportunity to obtain permanent residency. The students must attend college or serve in the U.S. Armed Forces to become eligible for permanent residency.
