Candidate Albany County Comptroller
Darius Shahinfar is the City Treasurer of Albany, New York. He was elected to the position in 2013 and re-elected in 2017. Shahinfar grew up in Utica, NY, and attended Bates College in Maine, and then Albany Law School. As an attorney, he served in the NYS Legislature, the NYS Court System, as Deputy Albany County Attorney, and then in the Congressional Office of Congresswoman Kirsten Gillibrand.
Shahinfar is now running for Albany County Comptroller, which is Chief Financial Officer of the County of Albany with a budget of nearly $700m. Shahinfar campaign was endorsed by Albany’s mayor, current and former assembly members, more than half of the Albany City Council and County Legislative Democratic Caucus, along with numerous town and city party officials.
