2012 IAPAC Election Cycle Wrap-up

Washington, D.C. - The Iranian American Political Action Committee (IAPAC), the connected PAC of PAAIA, today announced the full list of candidates and party committees it has supported throughout the 2012 election cycle.

The IAPAC-backed candidates for federal office included a bipartisan list of fifteen members of Congress and all four congressional party committees. Representatives Donna Edwards (D-4th/MD), Peter Roskam (R-6th/IL), Jackie Speier (D-14th/CA), and Frank Wolf (R-10th/VA), as well as the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC), the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC), the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC), and the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) were among the candidates and party committees supported by IAPAC.

In addition to supporting members of Congress and congressional party committees, IAPAC supported nine Iranian American candidates for public office during the 2012 election cycle. Those supported include but are not limited to: Anna Kaplan (Councilmember, North Hempstead, New York), Amir Omar (Councilmember, Richardson, TX), and Cyrus Habib (Candidate Washington State House of Representatives).

Since its inception, IAPAC has supported seventy candidates, including twenty-five Iranian Americans, running for public office, as well as all congressional party committees. IAPAC has contributed over a quarter of a million dollars to its endorsed candidates, and has helped raise an additional $3.3 million for their campaigns by encouraging Iranian Americans and others to contribute to the campaigns.
